I wasn’t really excited about the new COD black ops until I saw this vid. I like that they’ve brought in the ‘ladder match’ (the one where your weapon changes with every kill). The real ladder match required you to get ten kills with each weapon, but whatever.

I’m glad that new games are finally being released for the holiday season- the xbox is by far my favorite piece of electronics in the house, and it hasn’t been getting nearly the amount of attention that it deserves. Usually COD multiplayer is strong enough to carry my interest through the slow summer season, but MW2 has really been a letdown for me- in fact, it’s the first COD game that I ever sold. that’s saying a lot because I’m a huge COD fan.

I was worried about getting a Mini because I thought my friends might think I had gone soft. Then I saw this one… with eighteen cylinders! The engine belongs in a DUMP TRUCK! It produces 3500 horsepower and over 10,300 foot-pounds of torque. Also, I don’t think this thing actually runs… where’s the gas tank?

Check out this kid. Damn he’s cool. I think he’s destined for party animal greatness!

What this really makes me think of is exhaust… and when I think of exhaust, I think of  pollutants… which brings me to the time I thought I gave myself Mesothelioma cancer . You see, I live in an old house, built in the early 70′s. One day I was resurfacing the floor in my bathroom. The previous owners had covered it in the giant flagstone. My wife said it made her feel like the Flintstones. A pipe leaked in the wall and it got all wet under the stone, and I didn’t want any mold to grow there, so this was as good an excuse as any to replace the flooring. When I puled the flagstone up, I discovered that there was this yellow sheet linoleum under there. I got some floor stripper and started to scrape it off, but it wasn’t cooperating. So, I had the brilliant idea of attaching a wire wheel to a drill and scraping it off. I didn’t read the warning on the back of the floor cleaner that said not to grind or sand the tile off. I’m pretty sure that the flooring was made from asbestos, and I spent a bout a week being completely freaked out, stressed and paranoid… because I was absolutely sure I had just given myself mesothelioma. I’m not so worried now- as researched says that it’s people who are exposed to asbestos on a regular basis that are affected. For example- guys who work at a brake shop. Getting a single large dose is not likely to kill you.

I wish I was this clever at school. Most of these things I’ve seen are a result of the pupil not knowing the answer (like the bear one here). In the train one there- the student clearly knows how to solve the problem, but logic dictates that the only thing heard by observer A is “SPLAT”.

Nowadays- with the internet being available everywhere, students have what I call the ipad warranty … or ipad insurance… meaning that if you can’t figure it out, you’re just a few clicks away from the answer… just use the internet. But drawing cartoons on your tests is a pretty good alternative.

Seriously, though- with the size and weigh of todays small, expensive electronics, insurance is a good idea. I nearly washed my new cellphone the other day. I also once dropped my cellphone and it suddenly decided that it wouldn’t receive or make phone calls. These things are too easily broken to not insure.
