The other day, I heard a sound behind me. I turned around, and I saw my cat laying belly up on the futon.

It’s been a while since I posted pictures of my kitties, so here you go. The picture above is Screecher.. she’s snoozing it up on a bookshelf. She’s a pretty awesome cat, but she doesn’t let us pet her very much unless she’s in the bathroom. Strange kitty!
Screecher really likes her pet water fountain. She used to enjoy drinking from the bathroom faucet, so we decided to get her a fountain. As you can tell, she’s quite the fan of it… I think she’s imagining herself in the Serengeti here.

Sleeping Screech strikes again… Instead of buying her a pet bed, we let her sleep in a laundry hamper with an old bathrobe in it for padding.
Finally, a picture of Sandy… she’s napping, too. You’d think we had a eucalyptus plantation in the backyard from all the sleeping pics I got! They’re not always like this, I swear!

So… I guess you could say that these two cats have a good thing going here… all the food you can eat… a dog-proof home , and occasionally, they catch a lizard… okay, I’m not too crazy about the lizard part…
We stopped buying cat toys for them once we say that they have as much fun chasing milk bottle tops and q-tips as they do with real cat toys. Our last cat used to hunt birds, and I wasn’t too crazy about that… he was even tormenting someones pet cockatoo that had somehow escaped from it’s bird cage. Our cat’s a re a bit more mellow now, but I had to save a baby bird from little Sandy just a week ago…
After seeing the movies bolt and bedtime stories, I thought it would be cool to get a guinea pig. I think it’s a guinea pig… I’m talking about the big pet rodent… I hear that they get along with cats pretty well. I’d like a bunny, too… but my wife is allergic to them.

That’s right, we have two cats. I’ve already introduced Mr. Mario, now it’s time to talk about Screech. By the way, clicking on this image should bring you to a much larger image.
Screech, also called Screecher or sometimes Creature is our aloof kitty. She also stays out of trouble.
Mario goes gallivanting around the neighborhood while screecher never leaves the back yard. She did escape one time. My wife was going to take her for a walk and some dogs scared the kitty. My wife didn’t have a firm grip on the leash, and our kitty ran off. We did end up finding our scared Creature across the street, but only after walking around the block, with Mario following us around like a dog.
Creature has a crook in her tail. We joke that she has a prehensile tail. She is also funny about her water- she likes to drink as close to the source as possible. We have one of those upside down bottle waterers, and she will put her nose right up to the bottle to get the ‘freshest’ water. We bought her a little fountain because of this. She likes the fountain.
As I said before, she is aloof, but sometimes she will come up and sit on our laps and paw at us. Yay.
