15.Sep.2009 Why I Don’t Play COD4 That Often Anymore
Okay, really lame post titles aside, Call of Duty 4 (which I will be calling COD4 from here on out) is one of if not the best online game to hit the xbox 360. I know some of you out there would argue that Halo is better- I played that game enough to know that I like COD4 better, so you guys can drink a nice tall glass of get your own damn blog.
Ahem. So, COD4 is a highly addictive and exciting multiplayer game that give players a great amount of flexibility in their playing style. It is action packed and loads of fun. Or at least it was loads of fun.
Unfortunately, the game is ruined by cheaters, modders and people who are just to darn good at the game (a nod to Halo’s matchmaking system is in order here).
The game is so exploit-filled that you could be fully covered by Medicare supplement insurance and still not have enough meds to keep your blood pressure levels stable (due to the frustration, you see).
There are “lag switches” that allow players to “warp” from place to place. Up until just recently, modded controllers were a real pain in the arse- they let you shoot a semi-auto rifle as if it were fully automatic. It only took the developers a year to implement a fix for this. These are just two of the myriad problems with the game. In a nutshell, the playing field is not level. Because such a large percentage of players are taking advantage of these exploits, the game has crossed that fine line between fun and frustration.
Here’s to hoping that their newest release presents players with a happy hunting ground.
